We have recently moved from the South Bay area of Los Angeles to Long Beach, California, and are once again accepting private dog training clients. The mission of Aralake Dog Training is to cultivate a quality lifelong relationship between dog and owner by enabling each owner to communicate effectively with his/her dog using positive reinforcement dog training methods. We have found that positive reinforcement yields the most favorable and consistent results from a dog, and fosters an attitude in the dog of being willing to please, as opposed to a relationship based on fear of punishment, which is a common theme in other types of training methods, such as compulsion training, where the dog is physically forced into positions. We also emphasize the need for the owner to be in tune with the dog's natural communication system, and teach proper use of body language (such as hand signals) and voice tone to communicate with the dog, with verbal commands being secondary and only to complement hand and body language signals.
